Because Steve was working on Saturday and Sunday (downside to being the Bike Guy – weekend commitments), I spent most of the weekend catching up on my to-do list, and shuttling kids to and from various activities. But between trips, I found a few “moments of zen,” stalking a male cardinal who was courting from the comfort of our front yard.
Steve didn’t really understand my obsession with our cardinal visitor, until he saw the photos. (I had a hard time deciding which I liked best – but out of 50ish photos, there were my four favorites).

Beautiful!
Your photos are beautiful Kristin! You are inspiring me to learn more about my camera and taking photos!
Cardinal stalking is the best !! my favorite bird
Really nice composition and color!
Love the first one. Red and purple. Very red hat ladies
It looks like he enjoyed playing with you too. These are great shots! I love the first one because of the contrast. The third one is probably my favorite because it looks like he’s up to no good!!!
Wow thoses are really pretty pictures. What kinds of a camera do you have?
Danaaz – These pictures were taken with a Nikon D40. (But I have a new camera, so we’ll see how that goes).
April – I love the first one also – the funny thing is it was a total accident. I had the white balance sent to incandescent (so it goes to show a little experimentation is not a bad thing).
Beautiful pics!
Oooooooo, Spectacular Kristin! We do not have cardinals in California, so this is a real treat! I have only seen one cardinal in my life. I was visiting a friend in Michigan in the summer months and got to see one in their back yard.
