Needed this podcast as I battled insomnia before I see my first private practice client today. That would have been my answer to the question at the Escape… What do I want, to be my own boss and have a private mental health practice. Erin and Kristin, my good guy husband has lost any ability to give truly thoughtful gifts too. You are not alone!
After listening to the podcast, I sympathize with Erin for her upcoming commute. It sounds as if she will be driving either east to Syracuse or west to Buffalo and back. Ugh.Good luck and drive safely especially in winter weather.
Erin, congrats on the new job! Sounds like a big step! Can’t wait to hear all the details!!!
First of all Happy New year and congratulations for your new job Erin, I comute too 1h10 min each way 5 days a week. The bad part is that you feel that you lose time travelling but on the other hand I can read magazines and also wind down from work so that by the time I come back work is behind.
Kristin, I am sending you a virtual hug after listening to you. Christmas is over rated. I decided for the first time this year to say what I wanted outright and i got it. I also said that I had done a surprise present and saw it coming so I bought my husband something for both of us. I was right as he did the same!!!!!! Doing that helped me to digest and lowered my expectations.

Kristin I can totally sympathize with having a breakdown over the crappy Christmas gifts. I had a serious pity party that week after Christmas because I was feeling totally unappreciated with the presents and felt like I put so much thought into hubby’s present and he bought mine at the last minute (seriously it arrived AFTER christmas) and while yes he bought me some nice charms for my bracelet he just clicked on the charms on my Amazon wish list and didn’t put any thought into the charms and ended up getting me a charm that is totally not even me (must’ve been drunk when I added it to my wish list) Oh well I just bought myself what I really wanted.
I just listened to the podcast this week. Now that my goal is out there for everyone to hear I really have to stick with it. In fact – another MM I met at the Escape messaged me on FB to let me know she heard me. Now I have an accountability buddy & a support group. Thanks ladies!
A couple of us talked right after Christmas complaining about the flop that was Christmas in our houses. It sounds like the insensitivity gene hit everyone this year. Once again, glad to know we aren’t alone.
This year I want to finally go on the MM Escape – if there is one, of course. If not, I think I’ll give myself a spa weekend retreat instead – the description online sounds nice

I am still laughing at Kristin’s “horn holder” gift to Steve! Oh that was hilarious. This show was a riot – laughing in my car all the way to work!
This is a question about audible. Once you buy your audio book, do you “own” the file, ie get it downloaded to my computer, and can share w/anyone; or is it “in the amazon cloud”? I want to be able to listen to it on many devices or at least many places. Either on my computer or android phone. If anyone knows, please let me know. I just signed up for my “free trial” but what I choose w/my free book might be determines by how I get the file. I can’t find ANY answers on the audible website.
