My husband always complains that I’m hard to shop for, and that I should just make things easier by telling him what I want for my birthday. I think that’s ridiculous and that I’m actually very easy to shop for – anything cute, sparkly or techie works for me! I’ve often thought a new pair of gloves every winter would make for the perfect present, since I keep losing pairs.
This year my mom got a brand new Nikon SLR and I immediately had a bad case of camera envy, and a great idea for what I’d like for my birthday. After picking himself up off the floor (I did just go from Isotoners to Nikon in one wish list), my husband did what he does best – research and find good deals.
So for my birthday I received a gently used Nikon D40 and zoom lens, found on Ebay.
With my new camera I have rediscovered the joy of taking photos with something other than my camera phone. I have also discovered my cat is the perfect photo subject – she follows me around, likes to strike a post and never yells at me for interrupting her video game.

Fun!! I got a new camera a few months ago as well and love taking pictures with it. Just wish my kids would cooperate better.
Love, Love, Love my Nikon. Had a used one (bought from a family member) for a number of years and just got a new one. We figured the old one took 500,000 shots. Enjoy!
Love it! I just replaced my broken lens (who knew you could spend more on a lens than the actual camera???) and have enjoyed taking pics again…..
Love my Nikon DSLR, too!! (Hated, with a passion, my Nikon Coolpix point and shoot – go figure). We’ve taken a zillion more pics since we got our camera in July. It’s the best money we’ve spent in a long time…of course now I’m going to need more memory on my computer to save the zillion shots…

JEALOUS!!!!!! I got (aka bought myself) a Nikon point and shoot last year for Christmas. My sister and Bro-in-law have an SLR that he got off ebay and we just got my dad one for his birthday….I’m feeling left out, but don’t see it happening this year….maybe for my birthday in June….
