With summer officially coming to a close, I thought I’d share one of my favorite summer drink recipes! If you have a lot of peaches in the fruit bowl on your counter, as I do, you can swap the peaches for the oranges and use a white wine instead of red. Strawberries and grapes are great, too. Cheers!

4 oranges: 2 juiced, 2 halved lengthwise and thinly sliced crosswise

1/2 C sugar

1/4 C brandy

1 bottle chilled dry red wine like Pinot Noir (or use a rose, it’s all the rage right now!)

2 lemons, thinly sliced

2 C seltzer or club soda, chilled (use flavored seltzer if you like)

ice cubes for serving

In a large pitcher, combine orange juice, sugar and brandy. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Add wine, orange and lemon slices and seltzer; stir to combine. Serve Chilled over ice.

Recipe is from Everyday Food August 2005.

Yum! I’ve enjoyed this drink at friends’ houses, but have never made it myself and am pleased to have the recipe. Thank you for sharing it. :)
