This week we’re talking about sleepovers (has your kid ever taken a bite out of a glow stick?), summer squash from the CSA and finding a new pediatrician. We also take a stroll down memory lane to five years ago when we recorded our very first episode. Some things never change. Kristin’s still wearing PJs to recording sessions.

That picture is hilarious!!
But how are you going to cook it? I have two small ones (that makes me laugh!) and not sure what to do with them?
LOVE listening to you ladies- ya’ll always make me laugh. Thanks so much for making my Monday morning a little brighter!
As I understand it, you place the squash down and slice it from the short side, if that makes any sense. I grilled it with olive oil and it was tasty! Although I found this recipe that I might try.

Glow stick – ERGH. Not only have I had one of my children bite on and get all inside her mouth, but my son broke on and it got all in his eyes. I REFUSE to buy them anymore. Such a neat idea, but UGH! The stuff inside also stained our clothes – never did get it out (still on my sweatshirt).
Squash – nice photo.
Glow sticks may not be toxic but they do strip the finish off coffee tables, as we found out the hard way. So it may cause some irritation on skin or mouths.
I just made baby patty pans from our farmers market. So adaorable. some not much bigger than a quarter. Alas, only one child would eat them.
I’ll have to try grilling them. That sounds good!
Loved this show….my favorite kind–one where you gals just chat!
Glow stick explosions are really common. Picture the dog chewing one. I thought there was an alien life form wandering through the house one night.
Update on the tooth that came out while having dinner at Erin’s. I posted this on my blog.
Dear Tooth Fairy
Friday night we were over at friends having dinner, when Allie lost her first tooth. Everyone was making a big deal about when I looked over at Abbie – crying. “Why does Allie get to lose a tooth first? I don’t even have a wiggly tooth.” It was so hard not to laugh. EK was right on top of and grabbed a baggie for the tooth, which I put in purse. The kids fell asleep on the way home and the tooth was forgotten. The next morning, we all realized that Allie never put the tooth under her pillow.
I was going through my purse and tossed the tooth in the baggie on the island. Late in the afternoon, I was blowing a head gasket over the mess in the kitchen (a coffee maker from Rob’s classroom had been sitting on the island for 17 days – yes I counted because I knew he would never do anything with it). I started throwing away all the camp notes, saved ring pops in baggies, art work, etc. in the trash. The kitchen now cleaned, and on to the living room.
Fast forward to bedtime. Allie asks for her tooth, I go over to the now clean island…..no tooth in a baggie. Oh crap. I am sure the tooth went in the trash during my head gasket blowing fit. Her first tooth. She goes upstairs and I think ….okay that was easy.
Five minutes later, Allie is storming downstairs in tears. She remembered that I put it in my purse and now the tooth fairy will not come. So, the smart mother I am…..said, you know what I think? The tooth fairy came last night and took the tooth, but she didn’t know whose it was, so she didn’t leave any money under your pillow. Why don’t we write her a letter and put it under your pillow…I am sure she will read the note tonight and put money under your pillow.
OMG……Here is her letter-
Dear Tooth Fair,
Did you pick up a tooth on the island? It was mine. Will this note work in place of my tooth?
Love Allie
Thank goodness Allie is my “non-drama” daugther. I don’t even what to go there if this had happened to Abbie.
Four years ago my dog, Syndal, was a cute little puppy. We all know puppies LOVE to chew! It was about halloween time and the kids left a glow stick out. We came home from the movies to our floor glowing in drops. We decided it would be waste to throw that glow stick out so the kids put it all over their hands and we took a lot of very fun pictures with their hands around their faces in the dark. The pictures turned out great! I can send you some if you would like…just email and ask so i`ll know you wan them. Afterwards I had a panicky moment that my kids were now going to get very ill in the future bexause I let them put that stuff all over their hands. So far, all is well. SMILE!
