As long-time listeners and readers know, I put a lot of time and creativity into the birthday parties. Because, you know, I’ve got nothing else going on and have plenty of time to create custom piñatas, invites and party favors.
Seriously, my kids and I have a great time planning their parties – starting with the all important theme selection. This year, Sophie decided she wanted her party theme to be Ladybug Girl, inspired by the book by Jacky Davis and David Soman. A book which as spawned several sequels, but surprisingly, doesn’t appear to have been licensed for party favors.
Fortunately, there is no shortage of ladybug accessories (or items in red and black). And, with the Ladybug Girl printable activity sheets, we were able to pull together a fun, girl-themed party, complete with ladybug wings for all the girls, and a ladybug shaped piñata (which Sophie insisted I make since, as she pointed out, I had made a Lego piñata for Anders).

I just picked these books up at our local library based on your podcast mentioning them, my daughter loves them, and I love how they teach little lessons.
Your party looks great and your daughter looks so thrilled.

Loving this. How did you ever create the invitation and thank you note? Would you mind sharing? Thanks.
Hi Lisa!
Glad you liked it – that was a fun party to plan. I believe I drew the invitation freehand, but you could also try tracing it using light weight paper over the book’s cover. Then I scanned it into the computer so I could drop the image into a word document for the thank you notes.
Hope that helps!
