The new year approaches, and with it an opportunity to get organized (or at least make an resolution about getting organized that may, or may not, make it past January 15th).
And what’s better to help you get organized than a Manic Mommies “It’s All on the Wall” calendar from Mead?

We’re giving away 10 copies of our calendar! Just leave a comment here, telling us how many “extra-curricular” activities your family is signed up for each week.

I have a 5 & 6 year old girls in ballet & hip hop dance class which lands us at the dance studio 3x a week. I am a SAHM and work at night part time, have a budding indie biz. the huz works full time and does free lance graphic design too. we also belong to a food allergy group since both kids have those. that’s not too often though.
To Damn Many! Did I just say that out loud. I meant to say 9 year old 4, 6 year old 3 and mom 3. That’s a lot for a single mom.
Does doing the dead with hubby count?? JK This year my kids are still young so none, However, next year I want to start them taking music classes (because my 2.5 yr old son loves to sing and dance) and karate (because every girl should learn how to protect herself from and early age)
We decided since my son started full-day kindergarten this year,we would hold off on extra activities this fall and let him adjust to his new longer day. I will see this spring what he is interested in doing. He has talked about karate, soccer and swimming.
I have a hard time keeping track of my husbands work schedule. He’s a firefighter (24 hr shifts) and has a part time job at a local hospital. My daughters aren’t too busy, just preschool right now. Next year well will be more hectic.
Trying to minimize those as much as possible while she’s still little, but we go as a family to the Y 3 times a week plus various bible studies and other church activities. Soccer in the winter for a short season.
The 7-year old has Cub Scouts every other week, Basketball 2x/week + Book Club 1/month. The 3-year old isn’t signed up for anything yet.
I’d love to win this calendar!
My daughter is 2 and does dance and music class, thankfully during the day since I stay at home. Then after school my son does tennis and football. I think as my daughter gets older and both kids have afterschool activities it will get challenging, but for now things work.
2 kids, 5 and 3. Swimming, Dance and Karate. That’s not the problem…. I need to find time to DRINK!!!
Love the calendar!
A 2 year old and a 9 month old. Wednesdays swimming lessons, Thursdays Play group, twice a month mother’s group and twice a month Australian Breastfeeding Association meetings. Once a month for me stamp club (with NO children!) I think that’s it…. oh and hubby every Tuesday night goes bowling.
Good question. We are always running..boy scouts, guitar lessons, gymnastics, tutors, extra help and fencing. Funny thing is, I really try to keep them from joining too much…and still we are always running.
Mom: 5 volunteer projects & a job
Girl 1: 7 after school groups/teams/lessons
Girl 2: 2 after school groups/teams/lessons
Dad: 1 project & a job
Thanks for the giveaway!
1 year old = 0
3 yr old = 1 (gymnastics)
dad = 1
mom = 1
We use our calendar mostly to coordinate mine and my husband’s activities, plus dr. appt’s, etc.
Part time worker, full time mother. A partner who never remembers his appointments, a social, gymnastic 4 year old. A 2 year old mothers and toddlers attender. I am the juggler of all! Planner urgently required as I’ve managed to double book myself on the night of my school reunion.
we don’t have any right now but next year will be starting boy scouts and t-ball along with mothers day out and maybe an gym class and that is just the kids
where do I start? We have dance 2x per week. OT and Speech 2x per week. Then add in all the Mom’s club events and most of our days are packed.
Over the course of a month, we each have 2-3 extra things going each week. But, I am an adult female living with ADD (and my husband is…a man) so it feels more like 500!
Extra-curricular? You mean, besides getting the kids bathed with some sort of frequency and, perhaps, a date night every few weeks?
My girls both take ballet once a week and my older daughter has Daisy’s every other week. Certainly not a lot of activities but enough for us!
Dance, Karate, Gymnastics and we’re adding skiing when it snows.
Each week the kids have 4 things: tumbling, soccer practice, church youth group, and music. ANd i have at least one activity of my own. The problem is when there are games for soccer, and later basketball. Then we can add another 2-3 things per week/weekend. So anywhere from 4-8 things every week. It feels like a lot.
Does a weekly playgroup count? Lol! My sons only 2 so no sports or anything yet but it’s definitely coming. Hopefully more next year!
My kids are 7 & 6. They are usually in two activities each. Right now, my oldest is finishing up soccer and is taking a skateboarding class. My youngest just finished soccer and is on a dance team. Haven’t figured out the winter schedule yet.
Right now my daughter takes 2 classes on Sunday mornings.
I would say for all of us, we have about 5 extra activities a week.
Where do I begin? Me: PTA President, school volunteer coordinator, 2 part-time jobs, taxi driver to Son #1 and Son #2: football practice, games, baseball practice, games … mostly on the same day at the same time but on different sides of town, school programs, church programs, state elementary honor choir/chorus practice, and checking on elderly parents in between errands.
We were so busy last month, I had to pencil-in “GROCERY SHOP” on the calendar to make sure it got done!
Karate 2x/week and ice skating for my 5 year old and a music class for my three year old. I am on the board for my daughter’s daycare and the PTO/class parents for my son’s kindergarten. With baby #3 on the way, we need all the organizing help we can get!
Tuesday daughter’s flute lesson, wed girl scouts, thursday son’s soccer practice (altho that just ended), this thursday soccer pizza party, sat son attends b-day party & has sleepover at our house, daughter at GS camp, sunday pick her up early at camp so she can attend GS Silver Award ceremony, rest of family attends. Throw in 5th grade year book staff & art-in-the-class room co-chair at son’s school.
Oh, & I work full time.
oh boy
daughter – weekly girl scouts, dance, hockey practice and hockey game
son – two weekly hockey practice, one hockey game and lacrosse begins in a few weeks.
younger son – he loves sunday school so he never wants to skip church
plus older son and i have a weekly tennis class.
wish i had time for some me classes but just don’t.
cara
Me- 3 spin classes which I rarely make
Husband – three hour nightly basketball practice
Son (7yo) – basketball one night and boy scouts every other
Daughter (4yo) – nothing
Officially my four yr old is just in one – drama on Saturday mornings. Of course, that’s not counting mom group twice a month, innumerable mom’s club outings, MOPS twice a month, preschool, church, my Tuesday night group, etc …. I lost count.
It changes from week to week! We are busy with preschool activities, events, and meetings. My book club and moms night out, husband’s work schedule, birthday parties, family get-togethers.
4: Dance, gymnastics, soccer, and sunday school.
We’re still new to this whole manic week schedules… my 2 yr. old & 4 yr old go swimming lessons once a week (on two different days unfortunately). My older son will start soccer in January (just in time to record onto the Manic Mommies calendar!) Add in the playdates and parties on the weekend and it’s starting to fill up so quickly. Makes we wonder what the calendar will look like when he starts baseball in spring…yikes!
2- swimming and gymnastics.
hockey 1x wk, swimming 2x wk, soccer 2x month and soon cross fit gym for kids. and he’s not even 2 yet!! YIKES!
then there’s my husband’s on-call work schedule (ever changing!) my PT work schedule and husband’s hockey games, football…. my travel (mostly for work).
I have tried many forms of trying to keep it all together. not working too good.
=)
ps, LOVE your podcast!!
We’re not too over-booked, thankfully. We just have a weekly science class for my son and occasional gym visits for the grown-ups.
I have Zumba 3 days a week, and my son has swimming and preschool play each once a week.
Trying to control the activities – various school start and stop times, piano, ballet, scouts, youth group, book club, story time…how am I doing?
As of now- we are not signed up for anything in particular- but, we do seem to have a lot going on still… :0)
I have a crazy schedule because I am a flight attendant and I need one of these to keep everything straight for my husband !
My oldest daughter takes swimming once a week and is in a reading group two days a week.
The little one goes to school 4 days a week and is quite the social butterfly with her playdates …
Every week, we have church on Wednesday evening and at this point, that is all. My son is 6 and I am kind of waiting for him to express interest for activities before I push it. My daughter is 3 and know she would love to do dance or gymnastics or something, but I just can’t bear to commit to a class at this point. Of course, this does not include Dr appts, date night with my husband, my book club, figuring out which days the kids need daycare/after school care… there is always something!
Got one in high school football, two in soccer. One in hockey, one in dodgeball, one in hula and GATE after school one day a week. That’s four kids. Some do multiple stuff. Oh yeah, a husband who travels three days a week. Whew!
Right now we have:
Preschool Tues and Thurs, Soccer Tues evening, Hockey Fri, Postpartum group Fri, Therapy Wed, daycare Mon. Sat & Sun it’s to each set of Grandparents!
That’s all just for my 4 hyear old, wait till the baby grows up!
With four kids, Im always running around from place to place. Would love a calendar! Please put me in for a chance to win, Thanks
Hmm, weekly activities… Well on Mondays my 6-year-old has cheerleading. And we usually hit the library right afterward since it’s close by. On Wednesday nights we have church-related activities and then on Thursday nights the girls all have church choir practice. Plus in the spring and fall we have soccer practices and games and this spring my oldest wants to try softball (instead of soccer). Wow, we’re busy!
kids=swimming, gymnastics, soccer, piano, ballet
me=work, room parent for one child, pre-school board of directors for the other
Hmmm….not too many extra curriculars but my life feels crazy!
2 kids, 2 different preschools, doctor appointments, play dates, my job, dad’s job, milestones (I like to put that on the calendar), volunteer work, library due dates, birthday parties.
I really want one!
Well, I am a Mom of twin 6 yr old boys and am 47 years OLD! One is ADD the other is Autistic & ADHD. My hunny bunny works 7 days a week for his family business(grr) I also have ADD & many health issues (wahh)So the theropy, doctors, medicine counting & taking, CSE meetings, eating chocolate(opps), feeling like a single MOM stuff keeps me busy.
