IMG_6072The Manic Mommies took a time out to get a little shopping done, meeting listeners and friends at the new Champion store at Wrentham Premium Outlets. During our visit we found out some of the ways moms are staying fit—from karate to power jump roping (how dangerous does that sound?)—we were so impressed by their commitment to get moving. Maybe it will inspire Erin and Kristin to do the same!

  1. Such a fun night – thanks ladies! Are you going to join me for jump roping on Tuesday a.m.???

  2. Jen Davey says:

    Can you say “bow-chicka-bow bow?”

Who has time for sex AND exercise? Seriously?!?

  3. Jill L. says:

i just recently started attending a boot camp, it’s outside at a local park (we’ll move inside when the weather warrants). It’s from 5:30 to 6:30 am, it’s perfect! I get home, shower, ready myself for work, then get the kids up and ready for daycare/school (with the help of hubby). We do all kinds of strength training, yoga, jogging. I love it!

  4. Trina Helfrich says:

Which YMCA has jump roping in the AM? I live near Framingham, but it doesn’t look like they have it there. Boo hoo!

  5. Denise says:

I try my best to do yoga every morning. It keeps me flexible, energized and relaxed.

  6. Anne says:

Your right yoga is great for moms! I actually feel like getting on the floor with my little guy when I’m all stretched! Also got a trainer for my road bike and I do some spinning during nap time.

  7. Kristin says:

I almost hate to admit it, but I am the early riser who will run in the heat, rain, snow, whatever. Not breaking any speed records, but my 10-12 miles a week, added to the few times I can get to the gym to lift weights, have helped me lose 20 pounds over the last year. Now, if the money fairy would deliver so I could do some more shopping!

  8. Jen says:

On the days when I remember to think ahead I bring my sneakers to work and use my lunch or some time in the afternoon to go for a walk. I don’t do this as often as I need to and with the cold weather creeping up on us I need to actually attempt some REAL exercise. Ugh. My husband and I are debating getting a treadmill… We both had gym memberships that expire this year and I will NOT be renewing mine. I think I made it to the gym 3 or 4 times last year. Those have go to be the single most expensive trips to the gym EVER if I break down the cost of my membership cost by 3-4 visits. Yikes.

  9. Katheryn says:

I get up at 5am Monday through Saturday to work out (Sunday is my rest day). I mostly run, but also do a kickboxing class twice a week, weight training, and yoga.

  10. Lori says:

Jumping rope made me pee my pants in elementary school (it was so bad I was excused from that activity in gym class)… I can’t imagine how it would be with the post-baby bladder. I have a hard enough time sneezing now!

  11. Kristin says:

Erin, where did you get the sausage and tortellini soup recipe? Sounds fabulous! Wish I could have been at the Champion store…Can always use more cute workout gear!

  12. Laura P says:

We make it a family affair! We go to the YMCA 3 times a week. Hubby swims in the pool with our daughter while I work out, then we switch. Everyone gets their exercise and then some and my daughter gets one-on-one playtime with each of her parents. While she sleeps in the car on the way home, my husband and I get a little talk time.

  13. Leslie says:

Awe Laura I like that one. I get up at 5 to do Power 90 and it alternates cardio and weights. It’s a video I watch because gyms are way to expensive and my time is too precious. It would take me forever to go to the gym and then get ready. I have leave the house by 6:45 or 7 because my job is 45 min to a little over an hour just to get there depending on the day. By the time I get home, there is no way I would exercise except I started the c25k program as an app on my iPhone. I am on week 9. The last one. Three times a week while hubby watches our little 17 month old girl. I also wanted to mention it takes 20 days to form a habit so make it that long and then smooth sailing from there.

  14. Lisa says:

Usually I stay fit by running at least 3x/week. The best part about it is that I don’t have to “go” anywhere: just take off out my back door. We’re lucky enough to back to a trail, so I take the trail out and connect to other trails or run through other neighborhoods to other trails or whatever. Until she turned 4, my daughter was my running buddy in the jogging stroller. It was easiest when she was a tiny babe–probably in part because she wasn’t a good napper but if I put her in the stroller and got moving, she’d sleep and I’d get my run in. On weekends, I’d put in 6-8 miles with her asleep so she’d get a good long nap. (Yes, she did wake up the minute I stopped, almost without fail!) It’s harder now that she doesn’t want to be in the stroller, but we have a treadmill I can run on at night when all else fails.

At the moment I’m not exercising. I’m 15 weeks pregnant and had really bad morning sickness the first trimester that left me unable to walk a mile even. I lost 10% of my weight so until the m/s is gone and I’m gaining weight, I’m hesitant to do any exercise. I miss it!
