Admit it. You doodle during meetings. Maybe you sketch out boxes, write down your grocery list, or cover a page with flowers, circles or other do-dads. I’ve heard that doodling is a good way to untap your creative mind, or even help troubled youth. (I have no idea if any of that is true, but it sounds good so I’m going to choose to believe it).
I’ve always been a doodler, especially during long meetings or conferences. Last week I was at a full-day meeting and found that by the end of the day I had created something a little different than my usual scribblings. Before I chuck it into the recycling bin, I thought I’d share…
(The big “E” is the logo of the hotel, Embassy Suites. It was a watermark on my pad of paper, and obviously is what started the whole thing).
Do you doodle? What’s your favorite “subject”?

Oh yeah, doodling is a great way to get through long meetings. I either doodle 3-D boxes (I’m an engineer, I can’t help it!) or quilting designs. If I’m really bored, I’ll use several colors of ink and color the 3-D boxes!
Some of my best images have been scribbled onto spreadsheets. I have a theory that the junkier the paper I am working on, the more likely I am to come up with something I SHOULD have put on UNlined paper. heh
Would be fun to be able to upload some here. See what goes on in the heads of Manic mommies trapped in meetings while imagining everything but the bottom line…..
: )
Your doodling suggests (to me) a very intense desire for Spring… little chipmunks, flowers, kites, birds, little girls singing. I don’t think you should throw it out. It’s a really cute drawing.
Oh, and to answer your question. I usually doodle my name, or my son’s name. Sometimes I just write words of what the person is talking about. I’m a pretty boring doodler.
I didn’t even think about the “spring” theme but you are totally right. I am so ready for spring and the fun I know both my kids will have! Too funny.
I don’t personally, but I work with a lot of artists, who doodle constantly in meetings. It drives people who aren’t used to it NUTS.
I doodle a lot, my mousepad at work is a writing tablet and I doodle while I am on the phone. For some reason it do a lot of animals. Maybe b/c my son is an animal nut and for the past 7 years it has been “now draw an elephant mom!” who knows. Keep it up though Kristin it is good stress relief!
