Podcast: Working moms and at-home dads

Mary & Kristin in the Corvette

Mary & Kristin in the Corvette

While Erin was at home getting her home ready for the weekend’s open house, Kristin was in Austin, Texas at the interactive/music/film/whatever conference known as SXSW.

While she was there she met Mary Henige, director of social media & digital communications at General Motors, and a working mom! They camped out in a Corvette to talk about making the shift from dual income family to one where mom’s the primary breadwinner and dad stays home. They also discussed mentoring and how we can help other moms as they try to figure out how to “do it all . . . and then some!”

  1. Laura says:

This is our life. I work and my dear husband is Mr. Mom. He is amazing!

  2. GG says:

I personally know a lot of families working the stay at home dad model. Stay at home parenting is a tough job and I’m glad to see some of the dads getting their recognition too!

  3. Terese says:

Having a stay at-home dad is a blessing. However, I can’t believe the woman interviewed is also a mentor for working moms. I learned nothing from her because she doesn’t really parent with a partner who also has a full time job. With her husband early-retired, he does the higher number of tasks without sacrificing his job security. I need support and advice from two full-time working parents who go to a job during the day.

Sorry that my first post is a criticism. I love your show–honest. I’ve been listening for years.
