Why I Love the Brazen Careerist
Posted in Erin on 02. Feb, 2010
Penelope Trunks’ blog, Brazen Careerist, is one of my favorites. I love when she writes about her struggles with motherhood and I especially love when she uses the F-word. I don’t know why. It just makes me laugh out loud.
Earlier this month she wrote a post about her anger management issues that made me:
1. Laugh out loud.
2. Feel sad.
3. Reflect on why mornings are so awful and ask myself what can be done to change them.
4. Feel better about myself (at least I don’t punch the fridge when I lose it in the morning).
5. Think about how amazing it is that she can write so clearly and concisely and crank out so many excellent posts every week.
Penelope likes to make lists on her blog (another reason why it’s a fun read). She’s also obsessed with Pioneer Woman. But then again, who isn’t? Penelope’s recent post, “how to make yourself more likable” was all about why Ree Drummond has so many fans and why her first cookbook is a #1 New York Times Bestseller. Yup, I have it. You can count me among the fanatics who pre-ordered on Amazon.
If you are looking for sharp, witty, and the occasional snarky story along with a healthy dose of great career advice that’s applicable to any career stage, check out her blog and let me know what you think. I’m thinking she’d make an excellent and entertaining guest for an upcoming show.

I have been reading her on and off for years and she seems like she would be a fascinating guest. I can’t believe the things about her personal life she posts and I alternate between admiring her and feeling sad for her.
She would definitely be worth having on the podcast.
She would be a fantastic guest. I love her writing.
I’ve never read her until now. Uncanny sense of observation. The use of the f-word TO her son made me uncomfortable, but at least she’s honest.
I have been reading Penelope for a while, her unpredictability is entertaining. I say she would be a great guest!
I’ve been reading her for about a year now, and she never fails to get a reaction, usually many. I find her honesty and her perspective very intriguing. Her writing on Asperger Syndrome has been very helpful for me in my work. I agree that she could be a great guest.
