One of my favorite places to visit in Boston, whether just with the kids or with visiting guests, is Fort Warren on Georges Island in Boston Harbor. Not only is it fantastic place to go for history buffs, it’s a great way to spend the day scrambling up and down stairs and through dark corridors. There are very few places you can’t go, and no one following the kids around telling them not to touch, or jump, or fall off one of the many unprotected heights.

From a photography standpoint, the light is a challenge – sometimes there is too much, often there is not enough. My eyes were a mess, as were my camera settings!

But I loved this image when it appeared in my screen because, for me, it captured the age and size the space as well as the dark and the light.

Thank you for this suggestion! We’ll be in Boston later this month and I was just putting together a list of things to do with my kiddos (ages 3 and 8). This looks great!

Sharon – If you go, bring a couple of flashlights. There are many dark hallways to explore!
