So here’s the thing I forgot as I looked forward to the end of school.
I still have to work.
While there is no question that this morning – our first day of summer vacation – was way more relaxed without the pressure of getting the children to school. I also forgot what a buzz kill it is to be the one who still has to get up, get dressed, and go to work.
I’m also (already) feeling the pressure of the amount of learning that is going to leak out of my children’s overstuffed brains, especially considering they will be away from home attending overnight camp for a month. Who believes they will complete any math worksheets or summer reading while away from home?
With this pressure already weighing heavy, I risked being called a dream crusher of all things summer, by giving the kids a short list of things to do before they cooked their brains on video games.
Today’s list was primarily focused on helping us “clean for the cleaners.” I would like to thank our gal, Mel Robbins, for inspiring me to make the children fold their own laundry. Honestly, I don’t care where the clothing goes, or what it looks like when they wear it, I just need to stop tripping over the baskets.
The kids don’t know it – but the next list will include daily reading, and math.
Happy summer everyone!
