Yesterday I took my mother into Boston for her belated Mother’s Day gift - a photo tour of Beacon Hill. Not only was it a great chance for both of us to give our cameras a workout, it was happy time spent with someone who is not just my mom, but my biggest supporter, my first confidante, and my best friend.

It was also Memorial Day, so I offer today’s snapshot as thanks to all those who have lived and died in service to our country, as well as the families who support them. Pictured below is from the Boston Common where 33,000 American flags are displayed, representing all of the fallen soldiers from Massachusetts who have died since the civil war. It was a touching display, and as Anders told my mother earlier in the week (when he saw it on television), so much nicer than a cemetery.

I ended up taking 500 pictures on our tour, but here are some of my favorites.
